MATAJUR, hiking the mountain with history (Slovenia, Italy)

Matajur will remain in our memory as a mountain that we share with our neighbors, the Italians, as the state border be

tween Italy and Slovenia travels along the top. We will also remember the beautiful pastures where cows graze, and colorful flowers grow. And we will remember the remains of the First World War, which fascinated Matija in particular. Especially the rocky supply road built by the Italians to supply their soldiers. It was like an open-air museum. Matajur is a mountain with a history and a beautiful trail, full of pastures and views. I am very grateful that we had an opportunity to hike it.
